Denisse initiated her piano studies at age 8 under Mary Bowman, in northern Mexico. In 2004, she moved to Slovakia and studied under Dagmar Schmitová and graduated from the School of Music in Spišská Nová Ves. Denisse later enrolled and Denisse Avena was born and raised in Colonia Dublán, Nuevo Casas Grandes. She began her piano studies at 8 years of age under the tutelage of Mary Bowman. At age 16, Denisse gave her first local concert in benefit of “La Gaviota,” a local school for children with intellectual disabilities. At age 18, with the support of the Rotary Club of Nuevo Casas Grandes, Denisse continued her piano studies in Slovakia under the guidance of Dagmar Schmidtová at the Spišská Nová Ves School of Music. Following her time in Slovakia, Denisse enrolled at Brigham Young University, where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Leisure Services Management, and German Literature. Part of her higher education included a study abroad in Vienna, Austria. After completing her higher education degree, Denisse continued her private piano studies under the direction of Tatyana Ekshteyn and founded Musicalize Piano Studio in Seattle in 2015, thus focusing on private instruction. In addition to managing Musicalize Piano Studio, Denisse enjoys participating in concerts that promote Mexican culture and philanthropy, her most recent collaboration being at the "El Grito" concert hosted by the Mexican Consulate in Seattle in commemoration of Mexican Independence Day. “It is an honor for me to spearhead this initiative and to once again offer a benefit concert in my own hometown, this time in support of the victims of the recent floods."
